Impact KC Awards $40,000 to Local Nonprofits in 2015

Impact KC is pleased to announce that our local giving circle will award $40,000 in grants to local charities as a result of member contributions made in 2015.

“As Kansas City’s most dynamic giving circle, our members have again maximized the impact of their individual giving by pooling our gifts to fund organizations who are doing amazing things in our local community,” said Andy Funk, who served as president of the organization in 2015. “Each member of our organization has cast an equal vote to fund a diverse group of nonprofits throughout Kansas City.”

Impact KC’s 2015 grant recipients are:

Jackson County CASA:

$10,000 for its Safe at Night Project which provides beds and bedding for children removed from their homes.

$6,000 to refurbish its PATH transition house, which gives safe housing and supportive services for young adults.

$4,300 to refurbish the PACES Play Therapy Room. PACES is an agency dedicated to helping kids with emotional and behavioral health concerns.

$20,000 to replace the nearly 40-year-old fire alarm system at its facility. Spofford provides therapeutic services and a temporary home for children.

Impact KC is a giving circle. Each year we start with zero members and zero dollars. We recruit members to pool $1,000 each. Our mission is to identify niche local needs and provide funding to achieve maximum impact. Through our committees, outreach, and grant presentations, we are able to learn a lot every year in the process. Every dollar raised is distributed annually to the charities selected and voted on by our members. Costs are paid out of pocket by Impact KC’s board of directors.
